With a range of nine engines, ranging from 87PS to 180PS, offers extensive choice with diesel engines emitting no more than 129g/km when fitted with a manual transmission whilst CO2 figures for the 1.3 CDTi are just 109g/km. and five trim levels, the new Astra embodies an upmarket design, quality materials and clever features. Inside the look and feel is distinctly premium with recurring wing and blade motifs and ambient lighting. Clever cabin storage solutions, some of which have even been patented, have been designed specifically for the 20 most common items buyers have been found to carry in their car, from an MP3 player to a 1.5-litre drinks bottle.
Innovations abound and include Advanced Forward Lighting (AFL+) ergonomic driver’s seat; FlexFloor for even more flexible solutions to boot storage; and optional bike carrier Flex-Fix. Whilst on the outside the next generation Astra brings a new look to the compact class, with its strong coupe-like lines and elegant surfaces whilst retaining the versatility of a hatch.
