Ladies’ Night in Exeter

It was ‘ladies’ night’ at Vauxhall Eden when dozens of female drivers received a host of tips to help them stay safer behind the wheels of their cars.

The evening, held in June, also coincided with the launch of Vauxhall’s new fun and stylish city car – the Agila. Also open to Eden’s male customers, the event included talks and demonstrations on all aspects of driving including self-protection, roadside get-you-home tips, defensive driving and how to ward off a possible road rage attacker.

Six Eden technicians showed guests how to change a wheel quickly and effectively (pictured is technician Stan Carter) as well as how to undertake oil and water level checks.

Commented technician Mike Edworthy; “One of our lady guests was so impressed with the event especially the practical yet basic and essential car maintenance tips in the workshop, that she came back the next day and bought a car from us!

“We are all guilty of assuming that our modern day cars are reliable and need very little input from ourselves as drivers yet a few basic checks can ensure that our vehicles continue to perform at its optimum. It’s also surprising how many people lack confidence when it comes to changing a wheel yet we could all easily find ourselves immobile due to a puncture.

“Our evening was intended to give drivers, particularly our female customers, more confidence in dealing with potential situations when driving on the road today. We hope no one finds themselves in circumstances where they need to draw on the lessons from the event but if they do, our guests are now a lot better prepared.”

Following his success at the ladies’ evening, Mike (pictured centre during one of his workshop demonstrations) was subsequently nominated and awarded the monthly 'Eden Employee of the Month' for the Exeter/Honiton division.

The evening wasn’t all about rolling up sleeves and getting dirty hands for the ladies – Eden sales administrator and professional beauty therapist Helen Brimilcombe offered a manicure service to guests.
